the story of rudolph and song lyrics

Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer is probably the most famous reindeer of all. Termed the ninth reindeer of Santa Claus, Rudolf is a fictional reindeer with a shiny red nose. He is depicted to be the lead reindeer in Santa’s sleigh during a foggy Christmas Eve.

The character of Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer was created by Robert May in 1939. He was asked to make a poem that could be given away by Santa Claus in Montgomery Ward department stores inAmerica. The poem was a success, that more than 2.4 million Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer poems were given away that year.

Johnny Marks, May’s brother in law, decided to adapt a song for Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer. The song was first sung by Harry Brannon in 1948. In 1949, Gene Autry recorded the first Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer song. Below is the Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer Lyrics.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer: Lyrics

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
“Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you’ll go down in history!
