The famous Christmas Carol, Jingle Bells was written by James Lord Pierport in 1850 in Medford, Massachusetts and was published in 1857. The original title of the Christmas Carol was “One Horse Open Sleigh”. The song was originally intended to be a song for the Thanksgiving and not for Christmas Day.
World Christmas Traditions proudly presents to you the modern lyrics of the Christmas Carol so that we all have some time to memorize the song before Christmas Day comes.
JINGLE BELLS
(LYRICS of the Christmas Carol)
Dashing through the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
O’er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob tails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
A sleighing song tonight
Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
A day or two ago
I thought I’d take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side
The horse was lean and lank
Misfortune seemed his lot
We got into a drifted bank
And then we got upsot
Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh yeah
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh
